From my midwestern farm town roots in Minnesota, to a four year venture in the Boundary Waters in Ely, to now calling the mountain community of Truckee my home, small town has always seemed to be a part of who I am.
The coffee shop where they know your order when you walk in the door. Church families who ask how you're doing and really mean it. Knowing which days to stay away from downtown for fear of being driven to insanity through frustration with tourists who can't grasp the simple rules of traffic flow. The lack of privacy, word traveling faster than the speed of light. I've experienced it all and so much more.
But I do know that where I am does not make me who I am. That is for me to decide and journey through. And the Savior continues to mold and shape me. For that I am thankful.
